Dads and Lads showcase Masters

Dads and Lads showcase Masters

October saw the second annual Dads ‘n' Lads Masters game with the Dads ‘n' Lads inviting the Great Britain Masters Lion – the team selected from GB Masters international players earlier in 2019 to celebrate 10 years of GB Masters internationals – to be their opposition.

The Dads ‘n' Lads, where all players are Masters and play with their Dad or Lad, totalled 1013 years with the junior pairing of Shaun (36) and Martin Flynn (59) at 95 years and the the senior pairing of Graham (59) and Jim Airnes (83) totalling a very impressive 142 years!

Organiser, Martin Flynn, was in good spirits after an exciting game. “Everyone has really bought into the concept and made it a truly family day with wives, girlfriends, children and grandchildren turning out for a great day out” he enthused.

The day, hosted impeccably by Wigan St Nudes Masters, also saw the county teams have their Festival of the Regions. Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Other Nationalities all put teams out. There was some skilled Rugby League on show and all games played in the best of Masters Spirit. Notable amongst the Masters of the Day awards went to Welshman, Ryan Roberts, of North Wales Buccaneers in only his second season of Masters.

Plans are already been made for the 2019 event.
