England Watch - Women | Challenge Cup semi-finals

With the 2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup on the horizon, we take a look at how our England stars got on in the semi-finals of the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup on Sunday.

Sunday - York City Knights 26-28 Leeds Rhinos

Courtney Winfield-Hill kicked a late penalty goal as Leeds reached the Challenge Cup final for the first time since 2019 thanks to a memorable win over York.

The Rhinos halfback and captain was influential throughout alongside fellow halfback Georgia Roche who had a hand in most things the Rhinos did well.

Chloe Kerrigan scored two crucial tries for Leeds as she featured at both right second row and left centre during the match.

Keara Bennett, Fran Goldthorp and Emma Lumley all started for the Rhinos, while Dannielle Anderson came off the bench as her bounce back from over two years out through injury continues.

For York, Tara-Jane Stanley was in outstanding form and named Player of the Match despite defeat. She scored a stunning early try and booted six goals on the day.

Grace Field was a first half tryscorer for the Knights, who also handed starts to Savannah Andrade, Hollie Dodd, Kelsey Gentles and Olivia Wood.

Sunday - St Helens 82-0 Featherstone Rovers

St Helens continued their run of not conceding a single point in 2022 with many of their England stars on show.

The impressive Carrie Roberts scored four tries as her prolific season continued, while there was a hat-trick for Amy Hardcastle who took her season tally to 13.

Paige Travis also scored twice and Rachael Woosey scored a double during a ten-minute cameo off the bench. And there were tries for Leah Burke, Vicky Whitfield and Tara Jones as St Helens continued their Cup title defence in style.

New England squad member Zoe Harris also got on the scoreboard with four goals and Beth Stott also added three from the boot.

Chantelle Crowl, Jodie Cunningham and Naomi Williams all started for the dominant Saints.

New St Helens signing Shona Hoyle awaits her St Helens debut as she is Cup-tied owing to her early-season spell with Huddersfield.
