Rovers hold successful Hall of Fame Dinner

Rovers hold successful Hall of Fame Dinner

Woolston rovers' annual Hall of Fame dinner on Saturday evening was once again a huge success as a packed masonic hall enjoyed an excellent evening with six further Rovers stalwarts being recognised for their fantastic contribution to the Green & Gold.

The first inductee of the evening was Derek Bailey, who unfortunately was unable to be present on the night due to illness, but he was able to join in the occasion via a live link on Facebook.

He was followed into the hall of fame by John Astley, Liam Horrigan, George Hutchinson, Nigel Quarmby and Vinny Webb.

All six were given a rapturous round of applause as they were called up to receive their Hall of Fame shirt.

Rugby League legend Adrian Morley was the guest speaker and he spoke about his successful career on both sides of the world, including the fact that he was the first Englishman to win the NRL and Super League Grand Finals, as well as talking through his incredible international career with England and Great Britain.

In a Press Release from the club about the event, which was sponsored by LNH Transport, Rovers went on to say the following:

"With thanks to Lucie and Neil Hyde for their continued support. Thanks also to Peter Astley for comparing the evening so professionally, Dave Birch who was our DJ, Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols for once again showing her support for the club and to Dave and Joanne at the Masonic Hall for overseeing a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
