Premier Sports announce stellar team for Monday Night Rugby League

Premier Sports, the new home of Monday Night Rugby League, has unveiled a stellar team of top talent to lead its broadcasts as a new season of rugby league action kicks off this coming Monday, January 31st.

Premier Sports talent team their opening Betfred Championship fixture between York City Knights and Featherstone Rovers features some of the UK’s best known and respected current and former players, commentators and personalities to offer expert insight and analysis with unique and entertaining coverage for viewers. 

The highly regarded and experienced presenter Emma Louise Jones will lead Premier Sports coverage throughout the season. The new Monday Night Rugby League presenter has a wealth of experience having featured on the BBC, Channel 5 and Leeds United TV.

Emma Louise will be joined on the coverage this Monday by former England internationals Kevin Brown and Leon Pryce plus one of the Betfred Women’s Super League’s most recognisable stars, current England player and St. Helens captain Jodie Cunningham. Completing the line-up amongst other names that will feature in the opening weeks is Keighley Cougars Head of Rugby Andrew Henderson.

Lead commentator for the season will be Mark Wilson, well known to rugby league and sports fans alike with a wealth of experience as a commentator for Sky and TalkSport.   

Premier Sports cameras will be live from The LNER Community Stadium in their first live televised fixture as York City Knights host Featherstone Rovers. Backed by an ambitious new owner, York City Knights have set their sights on reaching the Super League next season – but face a challenging opening tie against Featherstone Rovers, who have gone within 80 minutes of promotion in each of the last two seasons and have appointed the multiple Grand Final winner Brian McDermott in addition to making a string of big-name signings. Live coverage will begin at 7.15pm on Premier Sports 1.

Emma Louise Jones

Emma Louise Jones has become one of the UK’s most popular personalities over the years working regularly for LUTV and on the club's official podcast and her work for the Premier League club has helped her career go from strength to strength and now she can be seen on countless shows, including MOTDx, William Hill content and a variety of European Football show.

Jodie Cunningham

Jodie Cunningham has become an iconic figure in the Rugby League development of the women’s and girls’ game in recent years, as a regular in the England team and in 2021 named the Woman of Steel after leading St Helens to a Challenge Cup and Super League double – as well as working for RLWC2021 as their Community Engagement Lead.  

Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown is a former international with an 18 year illustrious playing career beginning at Wigan in 2003 and took in Huddersfield, Widnes, Warrington, Leigh and Salford, as well as earning him England honours. The St Helens-born half back included more than 400 appearances and amassing nearly 500 Super League points and represented his country at the 2017 World Cup.

Leon Pryce

For two decades Pryce was one of the sport’s most recognisable players, regarded as one of the finest of his generation. Pryce became the youngest player in Bradford’s history, at the age of 16 in 1998, and went on to win every domestic honour at his home-town club before more success at St Helens, Catalans Dragons and Hull FC, finishing as one of the most decorated players in the sport’s modern era.

Andrew Henderson

Former Castleford and Scotland international hooker Andrew Henderson was most recently appointed as Head of Rugby at League 1 side Keighley Cougars. Born in Devon but raised in Australia, Henderson twice won promotion with Castleford, and then played in two Grand Finals for Sheffield Eagles, while he was also fiercely proud to represent his family’s Scottish heritage with his two brothers in the 2008 and 2013 World Cups, amassing 22 appearances at international level. 

Mark Wilson

Mark Wilson is an experienced and popular commentator for TalkSport and Sky Sports predominantly covering Darts and Rugby League. Most recently in Rugby League, Mark could be heard on the BBC commentating on England’s Wheelchair Test series against France last autumn.

Ross Fiddes

Ross Fiddes been involved in the television industry in a number of different roles and became involved with Channel 4 Talent as a 'behind the scenes' reporter and then progressed to presenting online for BBC Sport and BBC Get Inspired. Ross has recently been seen as a regular presenter on the Super League Show on BBC One & Two.
