The Betfred Championship is returning

This month sees the competition kickstart its 2022 calendar with several teams hoping to reach the Play-Offs, including York City Knights and Featherstone Rovers who kick off the campaign’s live coverage on Premier Sports on Monday 31st January at the LNER Community Stadium (7:45pm KO).

Discounted tickets are available now to ensure a brilliant atmosphere to take in the spectacle both on and off the field, with adult tickets costing £10, concessions (17-21 years old, 65+) £5 and under-16s completely FREE!

Both teams, who faced each other at the iconic Wembley Stadium in a memorable AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final last year, have seen big changes in the off-season, all of which amount to a tantalising prospect under the lights.

The Knights have seen highly-rated Head Coach James Ford sign a new long-term deal, as well as the arrival of high-profile recruits Pauli Pauli, Jamie Ellis and Jordan Thompson head to the Minster city for 2022. Ford’s squad also boasts the proven Championship quality of Matty Marsh, Will Jubb and James Glover continuing in the amber and black, quality which will prove vital in the big league opener.

Featherstone Rovers have themselves brought in the most successful Head Coach in Betfred Super League history in the shape of four-time winner Brian McDermott, replacing James Webster at the helm, as the West Yorkshiremen look to go one step further than their defeats in the last two Million Pound Games and reach the top tier.

Former Dally M Centre of the Year winner Joey Leilua heads up their recruitment drive, the former Canberra Raiders and Wests Tigers man heading to The Millenium Stadium for 2022, along with Castleford favourite Jesse Sene-Lefao and Bradford full-back Brandon Pickersgill.

With mouthwatering match-ups across the pitch, both teams’ first competitive match of 2022 promises to be one to remember, so get your seats booked today!

Tickets, priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and FREE for under-16s, are available now from the York Stadium Management Company Online Ticket Office at yorkcityknights.com/tickets. Alternatively, you can purchase over the phone on 01904 942232 or in person from the Ticket Office within the LNER Community Stadium.

For the match, the Knights are opening the North Stand for Featherstone supporters so, Rovers fans, be sure to purchase yours to take the ‘Blue Wall’ to York!
