Hull KR Women align with club for 2022 season

Hull KR Women align with club for 2022 season

Hull KR have confirmed the further alignment between the club and Hull KR Women.

The Women’s side had previously been supported by the Hull KR Community Trust, but the move will see Hull KR Women fully integrated into the club’s structure.

The news comes at an exciting time for Hull KR Women after the side's 28-16 victory over Dewsbury Moor Ladies in the League 1 Grand Final. The win saw Rovers earn promotion to RFL Women's Championship - one step away from the Betfred Women's Super League.

In addition to the alignment of the Women’s first team, the club will now oversee the Girls' u16s side and a newly-created u18s Women's side.

The further investment in those pathways follows the great work by Hull KR Community Trust after five players from the Girls’ u16s side debuted for Hull KR Women in 2021.

Hull KR Women's Head Coach, Ben Parker was delighted with the development: "It's really exciting times to come under the banner of the club after being with the Trust for the last two years.

"With that, it means we'll be getting even more support than what we've been getting, from nutrition, player welfare and media support - going forward it can only benefit everybody playing for the club.

"The newly-formed u18s team will be perfect for the development of our graduating u16s' Girls. We have girls in our Women's team that are still young enough to play u18s rugby so that gives them the opportunity for more regular game time and that’s only going to help strengthen those pathways to Women’s rugby."

Hull KR Chief Executive, Paul Lakin, added: "As Women's Rugby League continues to grow it's important our Women’s side and their youth pathways are an integral part of 'One Club, One Team' at Hull KR.

"Following their promotion on the back of an excellent season, Hull KR Women will receive the full backing of the club to face the next set of challenges that come with the RFL Women's Championship.

"We're excited to see what the future holds for this group as we continue to strive for Hull KR Women to one day be promoted to the Betfred Women’s Super League."
