Southern Conference reaches play-off semi-finals stage

Rugby League’s Southern Conference reaches play-off semi-finals stage this Saturday (11 September), when Swindon St George and London Chargers, and Wests Warriors and Hammersmith Hills Hoists go head-to-head for a place in the Grand Final.

St George booked a semi-final spot for the first time last weekend when they held off a spirited Bedford Tigers comeback to win a titanic quarter-final clash 24-22, while the Chargers comfortably overcame North Herts Crusaders 56-18.

Wests Warriors went through the regular season unbeaten to bypass the quarter-final stage and go straight to the semis, where standing in their way will be reigning champions Hammersmith Hills Hoists who last weekend won 36-22 at Devon Sharks.

Dave Raybould, the RFL's Community Game Competition Manager, says:
“Congratulations to all four clubs for making it to this stage. They really are talented and committed sides, and a credit to the Southern Conference. We now have two fantastic semi-finals in store this weekend and it’s impossible to predict the outcome of either tie.”

Swindon St George versus London Chargers kicks off at 2.30pm at Swindon’s NALGO Sports Club, with the London derby between Wests Warriors and Hammersmith Hills Hoists kicking off at the same time at Wasps RUFC.

The Southern Conference Grand Final will be held at Rosslyn Park RUFC, London, on Saturday 18 September, kick off 6.30pm.
