Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation have announced that they will be hosting a sponsored walk, in celebration of their 15th year as a Rugby League charity.
‘Walk with Wakey’ was created to honour the fantastic work done the Foundation has done for the community since its introduction in 2006.
The event will take place on Saturday, 21st August 2021 from the Mobile Rocket Stadium to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, arriving just in time for Wakefield Trinity’s Super League clash with Castleford Tigers.
Registration for the event will be priced at £25 (including the match ticket) while fundraising minimum will be set at £100 per walker.
Over the past 15 years, the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation has gone from strength-to-strength, gaining a huge amount of success in the process.
After being set up under the supervision of previous Trinity owner, Ted Richardson, the idea was to engage with young people from across the community in activities at Belle Vue.
After a good few years inspiring others, the Foundation went onto collect some regional and national success, claiming the Brand Yorkshire Business Awards Charity of the Year Award in 2019 before being nominated for the Super League charity of the year award in the same year.
Over more recent years, the Foundation has expanded, launching four different pillars to support the community - NCS, Trinity Education, Rugby League and Health, Wellbeing & Inclusion – with numerous projects going on throughout the year.
After Covid-19 hit early last year, the Foundation became the organisation to turn to, offering a variety of projects to support our local district.
Whether it’s the Big Feed, Connect Again or our Team Mate project, the Foundation has spread an air of reassurance for many across Wakefield, hoping making people’s lives that bit easier.
