Warrington Wolves get off the mark.

Warrington Wolves recorded their first Betfred Women's Super League victory of the season with a 44-8 defeat of Huddersfield Giants.

Michelle Davis opened the scoring in the second minute with a terrific 70-metre break and raced clear to touch down for the opening try, which the full-back converted for a 6-0 lead.

A nice flowing move down the right saw Alice Evans dive in the corner, with Davis landing the touchline conversion, before Dani Bound scurried over from close range for her fourth try of the season to make it 18-0 inside 12 minutes.

Sammy Simpson extended the lead to 22-0 after Abi Johnston produced a stunning offload near the try-line, but Huddersfield hit back just before half-time through Frankie Townend to trail 22-4 at the break.

Brogan Evans squeezed over from close range to grab Warrington's fifth try in the 48th minute before Bryony Coombs powered her way over the whitewash shortly after.

The Giants hit back through Annie Loney following a superb offload from centre Erin Stott, but Simpson raced through to grab her second try and put Warrington into a 38-8 lead before Georgia Sutherland wrapped up the scoring late on.

It was the only match to take place this weekend after Betfred Women's Challenge Cup winners St Helens saw their game against rivals Wigan Warriors get postponed due to coronavirus issues in the Saints squad.

The matches between Wakefield Trinity and York City Knights, and Castleford Tigers against Leeds Rhinos - in a double header at the Mobile Rocket Stadium - were also postponed as it was not possible to arrange the necessary level of medical cover for the fixtures.
