Bishopshalt School (Hillingdon) 14 - 28 Howard of Effingham (Surrey)

Bishopshalt School (Hillingdon) 14 - 28 Howard of Effingham (Surrey)

Year 9 Final

Howard got off to a flyer and were 16-0 up in the first 11 minutes. Tim Stewart opened the scoring with a try from a scrum near the Bishopshalt line. Minutes later a brilliant length-of-the-field effort by Oli Hudson, converted by Joe Neasmith, made it 10-0 and Hudson followed this with another fine effort which Neasmith also converted.

Bishopshalt eventually opened their account when Fletcher Davis crossed from short range to make it 16-4 at the interval.

The first scoring chance of the second half fell to the Hillingdon side but the ball was spilled over the line. They then showed some fine commitment in defence to keep their opponents at bay before launching an attack which saw Jayden St Paul crashing over to reduce the deficit to eight points.

They continued to threaten and it took some strong defensive work by Howard to keep them out. The next score would be crucial and it came midway through the half when, on the sixth tackle, Jack Coppen scrambled over from dummy half. Neasmith converted to put Howard 22-8 ahead.

But Bishopshalt hit back with a try from Owen Faulkes following a strong run from Lewis Jones, which Davis converted to reduce the arrears to eight points. However, a try by the impressive Hudson, with Neasmith adding the extras, sealed the game for Howard.
