Barrow Raiders sealed promotion to the Kingstone Press Championship for the 2018 season after beating Whitehaven 10-6 in an all-Cumbrian clash in the League 1 play-off final.
It was a game where defences were on top and Barrow led by a slender 4-0 margin at the break after Shane Toal’s 10th minute try.

Visitors Whitehaven snatched a 6-4 lead six minutes after the break though as Dion Aiye’s try was converted by Jamie Dallimore.
Then just as the game looked to be entering drop goal territory, Raiders winger Toal scored his second of the afternoon on 70 minutes to secure promotion for Paul Crarey’s side.
