Oldham performed an impressive comeback from 22-0 to draw 22-22 at Batley Bulldogs, to aid their attempt to avoid the drop to League 1 in the pick of today’s Kingstone Press Championship Shield games.
The Bulldogs made a lightning-quick start to the match and were 22-0 up within 25 minutes following tries from Jason Crookes, Will Maher, Dominic Brambani and Dave Scott.
However Michael Ward’s 28th minute effort for the visitors gave them hope before the break, and in the second half Sam Gee, Ben Morris and Adam Clay all crossed to rescue a point.
Strugglers Oldham even almost clinched the win late on but Scott Leatherbarrow’s drop goal attempt drifted wide of the sticks.

Oldham are now tied on 12 points with fellow relegation-threatened Swinton Lions, who fell to a 30-16 defeat at home to already-relegated Bradford Bulls.
Andy Bracek, Shaun Robinson and Luke Waterworth all went over for the Lions but Bradford proved too strong with James Bently (2), Vila Halafihi, Mikolaj Oledzki and Sam Hallas all scoring as the Bulls collected their second win in a row.
