Luton Vipers enjoy vibrant start

After nine years away, Luton Vipers are back.

Player and Head Coach Ieuan-Rhys Beal gives an update to rugby-league.com after a whirlwind start to life at the Vipers.

The Bedfordshire club were only re-formed back in February and have already taken part in their first league match.

"We've now had two competitive fixtures, losing one to a last play try at MK Wolves 34-32 and a victory in our first league game in nine years! We beat Cambridge Lions 34-30.

We have recruited strongly, with over 35 players pulling on the new Vipers jersey so far, and averaging 23 players per training session.

We have a unique blend of experience and raw talent, which has probably been the catalyst to our early success.

The new lads who have a union background have adapted superbly and I tip some of them to go further if they advance themselves.

The club now has six strong and supportive sponsors; Penrose Estate Agents, Safe Access Scaffolding, Keltbray, Hill Professional Developments, The Bear Club and Brand Ambassadors.

The club is stable both on and off the pitch, with support coming from host club Stockwood Park RFC, and in particular Tony Harman and Mark Lovell.

We have a superb social side of things and look to get everyone involved, ensuring all players of all abilities feel welcome and part of the club."

Luton Vipers train and play at Stockwood Park RFC (London Road, Luton, LU1 3RN).
