It was a weekend of Cup action for the Womens teams this week, in the Challenge Cup Round 2 the first match saw Bradford Thunderbirds take on Oulton Raidettes. The home side ran away 78-0 winners despite the best efforts of the travelling side. Bradford’s Charlotte Booth scored an impressive 4 tries, she also scooped the player of the match award. Kirsty Moroney bagged a hat-rick of tries and Michelle Greenwood crossed for two tries. Further tries came from Lauren Hickey, Dani Swaine, Stacey Wilson and Rhiannon Marshall. Marshall converted 4 of the tries and Lisa Taylor scored 8 goals to seal the win for Bradford.

Thatto Heath St Helens faced off against the Army RL Ladies and in an exciting game the hosts came away with a 30-16 win. Army RL Ladies scored tried through Amy Robinson, Sarah Mitchelson and Laura Latimer with Carrie Roberts adding two goals. However the home side had the edge, Jenny Moss led the scoring with 2 tries. There was one try each for Sammi Simpson, Alex Simpson, Faye Gaskin and Dawn Taylor, Amy Smith capped the victory with 3 goals.

Also in the Challenge Cup Brighouse welcomed Fryston and despite two tries from Brighouse’ Anna Simpson Fryston ran out 48-8 winners. Hayley Fielding was on fire, crossing the whitewash on 6 occasions with Lucy Eastwood adding two, further tries for Fryston came from Ellie Smith and Lauren Powell, Kirsty Duffield successfully converted 4 of the tries.

In the  first round of the Challenge Shield Rochdale Hornets hosted Featherstone Rovers and it was a convincing 72-0 win for Featherstone which saw them progress to the next round.

Selby hosted West Craven and it was the home side who progressed to the next round with a 30-14 win. Yaz Copeland topped the points tally for the match with 2 tries and 5 goals for Selby, further Selby tries came from Jodie Cliff, Sam Boyes and Gemma Huddlestone. West Craven battled throughout, scoring tries through Sam Cunningham, Katy Dony and Nicola Fenwick.

Stanningley hosted Leigh Miners Rangers and in another exciting game the home side emerged with a 34-16 win. Leigh Miners played their part in a good game with one try each from Emily Mullen, Rachel Thompson and Celia Farimond, Mullen added two conversions to the visitors final tally. Stanningley winger Sarah Dunn lead the scoring and earned the player of the match award with two tries. Further tries for Stanningley came from Alicia Watson, Tasha Gaines, Leanne Wilson and Sarah Gaines, Jodie Litherland was on target with 5 goals.
