St Helens made it two wins from two in the 2019 Women’s Super League as they earned a 24-0 victory over Bradford Bulls on Easter Monday, in a game which was broadcast live on Our League.
The hosts started the game quickly with two tries inside the first five minutes. Chantelle Crowl scored following a Tara Jones break before Victoria Whitfield crossed for her first of the afternoon. It wouldn’t be until the second half when Saints scored again but this time Jones turned try-scorer after her assist in the early stages. In the closing moments of the game, Whitfield forced her way through the Bulls defence for her second.

The victory means St Helens are now one of three teams to maintain a 100% start to the Women’s Super League alongside Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos. Castleford and Leeds go head-to-head next weekend while St Helens welcome Featherstone Rovers.
Castleford Tigers earned a memorable victory over Déesses Catalanes on Saturday evening at the Stade Gilbert Brutus bringing home the HerRL Trophy. The Tigers ran out 6-54 winners in a game which following the Super League meeting between Castleford and Catalans.

2018 Women of Steel Georgia Roche opened the scoring before Courtney Pointon grabbed a quickfire double to give Castleford control of the game. The Déesses would get on the scoresheet, but Castleford would lead 20-6 at half-time thanks to a Lucy Eastwood try. Both sides had a player sin-binned in the first half.
Castleford would score three tries inside the first 12 minutes of the second half to open up a convincing lead. Kelsey Gentles was first to cross before Rhiannion Marshall scored a brilliant individual effort. Lacey Owen soon touched down on the right-hand side to give the visitors a 30-point lead.
Gentles would grab a second and Pointon then completed her hat-trick seven minutes from time. It was Emma Lumley who rounded the scoring off completing a brilliant performance in Perpignan from Castleford.
There was one game in the Coral Women’s Challenge Cup preliminary round this past weekend with the RAF Ladies progressing to Round One after earning a narrow 16-20 win at Cutsyke.
The draw for Round One of the Coral Women’s Challenge Cup took place prior to this weekend’s Women’s Super League fixture between St Helens and Bradford at the Totally Wicked Stadium and was conducted by St Helens’ Jenny Welsby and Leeds Rhinos’ Lois Forsell.
