Halcyon’s revived as first Midlands Masters club

N.E.W. Ravens hosted a Masters showcase event at Kings Norton on Sunday December 13 as the Masters family made one final journey of 2015.

Invitation teams from the North West, Yorkshire and London & South East joined the Halcyon lads to have some very muddy Masters fun in the run up to Christmas.

“Santa” in full costume refereed one game with Martin Flynn sensibly attired in “Masters of Australia” referee kit took good care of the other game.

The event was organised by Midlands player Andy Cave together with the Masters Steering Group.

Andy’s holiday to Australia this year enable him to join up with the Great Britain Masters touring team, playing a couple of club games.

This fired his enthusiasm to promote Masters around the Midlands RL clubs.

Sadly injury prevented Fred Baker of Midlands RL from taking to the field.

All Masters players and supporters chipped in the raise over £150 in memory of Leeds Masters player David “Batch” Batchelor.

At the end of the day, players expressed themselves happy with the day and now look forward to Christmas and New Year festivities as well as a closed season!
