Warrington Wolves earned a 34-12 victory over Leigh Centurions in a fixture celebrating Chris Hill’s Testimonial.
Hill has enjoyed ten seasons with Warrington, lifting the Challenge Cup on two occasions and previously spent seven years with the Wolves opponents for the pre-season affair, Leigh.
Steve Price’s side opened the scoring after just four minutes as Gareth Widdop and Ben Currie linked up well on the left-hand side before putting centre Toby King over.
Warrington pushed on and opened up a 16-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes. Josh Charnley shrugged off the Leigh defenders to claim a pinpoint Blake Austin kick before Tom Lineham forced his way over out wide.
Leigh got themselves on the scoresheet midway through the first half when Alex Gerrard powered his way through the Warrington defence.
Hill – in similar fashion to fellow England International Tommy Makinson a week earlier – managed to notch a try in his Testimonial Fixture. Lineham grabbed a second before half-time as Warrington headed into the break with a 20-point lead.
Josh Thewlis and Ryan Brierley both got themselves on the scoresheet prior to the hour-mark making it 30-12 to the hosts.
Lineham completed his hat-trick with 17 minutes remaining to finish the scoring.
