On Thursday evening, Warrington Wolves fought from behind against last year’s Betfred Super League Grand Finalists - Salford Red Devils – with Anthony Gelling and Luther Burrell both scoring their first tries for the club.
Toby King and Tom Lineham were also on the scoresheet for Steve Price’s side while Salford’s new signing Dan Sarginson notched a brace at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Leigh Centurions earned a narrow 12-6 win over Wigan Warriors at Leigh Sports Village in midweek. Jordan Thompon’s try nine minutes from time gave Leigh the victory.
Featherstone Rovers made it two wins from two for Betfred Championship sides against Super League opposition this week as they beat Leeds Rhinos 34-22 on Friday evening.
A brilliant first half performance saw Craig Hall, Josh Hardcastle, Gareth Gale and Dale Ferguson cross for Rovers. Conor Carey and Jake Sweeting added to their tally after the break while Liam Whitton, Corey Hall, Callum McLelland and Iwan Stephens were the Rhinos’ scorers.

Wednesday evening saw Wakefield Trinity fall to defeat against Betfred Super League and West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Giants. Brothers Joe and Jake Wardle scored either side of a Jermaine McGillvary effort for the Giants. Max Jowitt’s late consolation try wasn’t enough for Trinity.
London Broncos came out on top in the 2020 London Challenge hammering London Skolars 4-40. Whitehaven continued preparations for life in the Betfred Championship with a comfortable 36-0 win over North Wales Crusaders.
Elsewhere, Warrington and Leeds fell to defeats against Swinton and Newcastle, respectively, Huddersfield earned a second win of the week against Batley Bulldogs and Bradford Bulls edged out York City Knights in a game which was stopped prematurely due to poor lighting at the Tetley’s Stadium.
