Burnaby Road stadium in Portsmouth plays host to the second round of this year’s Inter Services Rugby league Competition as the Royal Navy hosts the Army on Friday (15th September).
This annual competition sees the Services best players come up against each other over three consecutive Fridays with three matches played each day.
The three matches feature the services young guns of the Academy followed by the best in Services Womens Rugby League and the last match being the 1st XIII encounter. The 1st XIII play for the Jack Harrison Trophy named in memory of a Rugby League playing schoolteacher from Hull who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross in the Battle of Arras 1000 years ago in 1917.
This is the second round of matches, the first being played last Friday between the RAF and the RN.
The flyers took the Academy fixture quite comfortably whilst the Womens match was a great advert for the game, the RAF coming out on top by 16-10. The 1st XIII game was another exciting affair, the RAF took an early lead, only for the Royal Navy to peg them back and dominate the last hour of the game to record an impressive 30-10 victory in which Josh Coupland scored a hat trick of tries on his Inter Services debut.
Kick off times:
