Sam Hewitt has joined Halifax Panthers on a season-long loan from Huddersfield Giants.
Hewitt debuted for the Giants in the Betfred Super League against Leeds Rhinos in 2018 and scored his first try a year later against Wigan Warriors.
The 21-year-old featured for Halifax in 2020 in a victory against York City Knights at The Shay Stadium.
On the move, Hewitt said: “If you look at the ambition of the club with the quality of signings that have been made and already within the squad it’s obvious that the goal come the end of the season is to be right up there and with a chance to win something and that’s important for me. I want to win.
“I think the squad will be definitely aiming for a top four finish with the aim to win something at the back end of the year and I believe with quality in the squad that is a very realistic goal.”
Panthers Head Coach, Simon Grix, added: “Sam had a great last year with some strong performances for the Giants.
“He’s motivated, in a similar position to Amir in terms of game time opportunities and wants to play at the top of the game therefore will need to perform well to get the shot so it’s a win-win scenario.
“Having had Sam on Dual Registration before we know what we are getting, both player and person, so we look forward to him joining us, adding to the competition within our forwards.”
