Brandon Moore signs new Halifax deal

Brandon Moore signs new Halifax deal

Halifax Panthers hooker has signed a new two-year deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2022 season whilst also being handed the club captaincy.

Moore – who will replace Scott Murrell as club captain – is entering his sixth season with Halifax after joining the club from Castleford Tigers in 2015.

The 24-year-old spent time on loan with local rivals Huddersfield Giants in 2020 making four appearances in the Betfred Super League.

On the extension and being named captain, Moore commented: “Firstly I would like to thank Grixy [Simon Grix] in placing his trust in me to captain the side, it came unexpectedly but is a huge honour and one I couldn’t turn down.

“I obviously have big boots to fill, Muzza [Scott Murrell] was a great leader who has been at the forefront of all Fax’s success in recent years and has been a big influence on me since joining the club in 2016.

“I really enjoy playing here and going into my sixth season at the club I feel my best rugby is still ahead of me and with the squad we have building I am really excited and can’t wait to get out there and start playing some Rugby.”

Halifax Head Coach Simon Grix said: “This is very positive news, and we are really happy Brandon, after receiving interest from Super League clubs, has decided to further commit to the club.

“From a Rugby perspective I feel he has benefitted greatly from his loan spell with the Giants, returning with confidence and no doubt some satisfaction after some eye-catching performances.

“Brandon has been a standout in recent years but still has improvements to make and the extension affords us time for that to happen here with the Panthers.

“This hasn’t taken too long to decide but being an appointment that we needed to get right; we weren’t in a rush. After discussion with people I respect within the club and externally we can confirm Brandon Moore is our new club captain.

“Brandon is well respected within our group because of the consistency of his actions. These actions are inspirational and 100% team first.”
