Lend-A-Lift scheme sees Oldham RL go green

Lend-A-Lift scheme sees Oldham RL go green

Newly-promoted Oldham Rugby League Club, who will play in the Betfred Championship this year, have launched a "Lend A Lift" scheme to enable more fans to watch home games at Bower Fold in Stalybridge.

The club's Vestacare Stadium home in Oldham doesn't meet Rugby Football League minimum standards for Championship rugby  so home games will be played at Stalybridge Celtic FC six miles away.

Fans who want a lift and those who will offer lifts are being asked to register their interest with the club.

A club spokesman said: "As well as enabling fans who don't drive to get to matches, we see this as a community project, eco-friendly and helping the environment by reducing carbon footprint. It will also help to combat loneliness

and subsequent mental health issues if it encourages people to get out and watch live sport on Sunday afternoons.

"Going green is an issue we take seriously. We are conscious of our responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint."
