Halifax RLFC have swapped prop-forward Adam Tangata for Wakefield Trinity forward Keegan Hirst for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Tangata re-joined Halifax after a brief spell with Widnes Vikings earlier in the season and featured in their Coral Challenge Cup exploits ending with a semi-final defeat to St Helens. Hirst has spent three seasons with Wakefield after enjoying spells with Hunslet, Dewsbury, Batley and Featherstone.
Halifax RLFC Head Coach, Simon Grix, said: “I’d like to wish Adam the best of luck with this opportunity. This was his aim since leaving home to join Halifax and we felt we couldn’t deny him that.
“He was fielding offers from Super League and this was inevitable, so we have cut a deal that works both ways. We had our eye on Keegan for next season, this way Adam gets his chance and Keegan gets to have a look at us.
“Keegan is an experienced front-row who has benefitted greatly from his time in the full-time game. He has a good engine and will provide significant size to our forward pack, he’ll come straight into contention for the weekend.”
Halifax are set to host Sheffield Eagles on Sunday 11th August in the Betfred Championship.
