Can Catalans Dragons pick up some more silverware?

Catalans Dragons

A tough year to follow for Catalans Dragons as they became the first ever French Challenge Cup winners, they made the Super 8s and a Challenge Cup win could somewhat of justified their Super 8s slowdown!

New Signings

Sam Tomkins is the major new signing, coming off the back of a Grand Final win with Wigan Warriors, and a good International Series win with England against New Zealand, Tomkins will help Dragons compete for the top five, it will be interesting to see where he fits into the team with Lance Todd trophy winner Tony Gigot!

With Josh Drinkwater leaving the Dragons, the Perpignan side had to find a good replacement, they have found that in Matty Smith!

Catalans signed a future prospect in Matt Whitley, the second-rower signed from Widnes Vikings after their relegation from Super League.

Key Player

Micky McIlorum, the former Wigan Warriors star signed a two-year deal for Catalans Dragons at the start of the 2018 season. A decorated player with two Super League trophies and three Challenge Cups, consistent performances for Dragons in 2018 was recognized by his peers after being voted Players' Player of the Year. He also won Catalans Dragons’ Player of the Year.

The Coach

Steve McNamara signed for Catalans Dragons in 2017 from the New Zealand Warriors. The start of 2018 looked doom and gloom for the French side, but the arrival of Josh Drinkwater and a settled side saw Catalans storm into the Super 8s. He will also go down in Catalans history becoming the first coach to win the Challenge Cup for the Perpignan side.
