Yusuf Aydin joins York on loan

York City Knights have announced the signing of Yusuf Aydin on an initial two-week loan deal from Betfred Super League side Wakefield Trinity.

Aydin made his Betfred Super League debut last season against Hull FC and has also represented Turkey on the international stage debuting in 2019 against Malta in Sydney.

On the move, Aydin said: “I’m here to get some more game time and experience. I want to learn off these lads and, hopefully, they can learn a bit from me as well.

“I had Fordy as a teacher, and, if his coaching is anything like that, he’s just straight and direct with you as well as wanting the best for you.”

On the acquisition, York City Knights Head Coach James Ford said: “He was in my form as a teacher. He’s always shown a pretty solid attitude towards learning and he is a tough, uncompromising middle who brings some aggression to the team.”

Aydin could make his Knights debut as York face Sheffield Eagles in the Betfred Championship this weekend. You can watch the fixture on Sunday evening at 7:30pm live on Our League by purchasing a gameday or weekend pass here.
