Everything you need to know ahead of the 2025 ABK Rugby League Ashes Series...
It’s almost time for the 2025 ABK Beer Rugby League Ashes Series!
Following a 22-year absence, the famous Ashes Series finally returns this autumn, with England playing a three-Test series against Australia.
Rivalries are set to be reignited between the two nations, and it’s a moment in history you simply cannot miss!
Here are all your queries and questions answered ahead of the opening test…

What is the Rugby League Ashes?
The Rugby League Ashes is a series played between England and Australia and will get underway this month, with the two hemisphere giants clashing under the lights of three iconic venues in the UK.
The two sides have not played each other in a competitive match since the 2017 World Cup Final, when Australia beat England 6-0.
The inaugural Ashes series dates back to 1908.
The most recent Ashes series took place in 2003, with the Kangaroos winning 3-0 on English soil after three tightly fought, blood and thunder battles.
In Ashes series history, Great Britain have won 19 and Australia have won 20 – including the last 13 consecutive series dating from 1970 to 2003.
The Lions haven’t won an Ashes series for 55 years but have come excruciatingly close on multiple occasions.
The Ashes has a rich and storied history, with so many legendary moments and players etched in Rugby League folklore, that are reminisced across multiple generations…
This the first time the series will be contested by England and not Great Britain.

Key Dates:
The ABK Beer Ashes Series will be played on three consecutive Saturday afternoons – October 25, November 1 and November 8 – with each kicking off at 230pm (GMT).
- Saturday 25 October – Wembley Stadium, London (K.O. 2.30PM)
- Saturday 1 November – Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium (K.O. 2.30PM)
- Saturday 8 November – AMT Headingley Stadium, Leeds (K.O. 2.30PM)
The venues combine the rich Rugby League and Ashes heritage of Wembley and Headingley with an exciting new stadium for the sport – the state-of-the-art development on Liverpool’s waterfront.
