London Broncos added a second piece of silverware to an outstanding 2026 campaign as they defeated Widnes Vikings 32-10 to lift the 1895 Cup at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Fresh from securing the Betfred Championship League Leaders' Shield, the Broncos overcame a determined Widnes side to become first-time winners of the competition and continue their pursuit of the second division’s treble.
London drew first blood and opened the scoring inside the opening ten minutes.
Clever handling created space on the right edge for winger Neil Tchamambe to dive over, with Ray French Award winner Dean Hawkins, adding the extras for a 6-0 lead.
A fired up Widnes outfit responded impressively and levelled the contest through Danny Langtree, whose try was converted by Danny Richardson to bring the Vikings back level.
But the Championship league leaders quickly regained control when Hawkins spotted a gap close to the line and raced through to score, before converting his own effort to make it 12-6.
A Richardson penalty on the stroke of half-time reduced the deficit to four points, ensuring the Vikings remained firmly in contention at the break.
The Vikings continued to challenge after the restart and Richardson's second penalty goal of the afternoon narrowed the gap further to just 12-10, setting up a tense final half-hour.
However, London found another gear when it mattered most.
The decisive moment arrived just before the hour mark when Luke Smith reacted quickest to touch down from a perfectly executed kick, restoring the Broncos' breathing space. Five minutes later, Alex Walker capitalised on a loose ball following another kick through to extend London's advantage.
Hawkins converted both tries as the Broncos moved clear at 24-10.
With Widnes chasing the game, London proved too strong. Tchamambe grabbed his second try of the afternoon before Robert Mathias crossed late on to put the result beyond doubt and seal a comprehensive 32-10 victory.
The success marks a historic day for Jason Demetriou's side, who were appearing in their first 1895 Cup Final and have now added a second piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet this season.
The Broncos have also become the seventh different recipient of the 1895 Cup trophy since its inaugural final in 2019.
Attention will now turn to the Betfred Championship Play-Offs, which get underway next weekend, where the Broncos will seek to complete a remarkable treble.
