RFL Council: Tuesday 21 July 2026

The RFL Council met today for its summer Council meeting and the RFL Annual General Meeting. 

Held at Wakefield Trinity's DIY Kitchens Stadium and chaired by Nigel Wood OBE, members received presentations on a range of topics, including the RFL's 2025 financial accounts. Finance Director Rob Graham presented the accounts, which showed the governing body recorded a profit for the first time in four years. 

The accounts, which are published in the Annual Report released today, were approved by Council. Council also formally approved the membership of Halifax Panthers Ltd. 

RFL Interim CEO Rhodri Jones provided an update on a number of matters, including engagement with key stakeholders such as Sport England. During the Council meeting, Martin Coyd OBE and Kelly Barrett also delivered a presentation on the Community game and the RESPECT campaign. 

In his role as Managing Director of RL Commercial, Rhodri Jones also provided an update on RL Commercial's performance in 2026, including progress on a number of current significant projects and plans for the remainder of the season, including the Betfred Super League Grand Final, the Rugby League World Cup and planning for 2027. 

RL Commercial Director of Marketing & Communications Joe Steel concluded the presentations with an update on planning for major events in 2027 and Super League’s potential to deliver record attendances during the 2026 season.
