Shaun Edwards OBE confirmed as Chief Guest for the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup

The Rugby Football League is delighted to confirm rugby league Hall of Fame inductee Shaun Edwards OBE as the Chief Guest for the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

One of the most decorated figures in rugby history, Edwards will return to the sport’s biggest stage to headline the annual Challenge Cup Final celebrations, bringing with him a career synonymous with success, leadership and elite performance.

Edwards enjoyed an iconic playing career with Wigan, winning nine Challenge Cups, including eight in a row, during one of the club’s most dominant eras, before transitioning into one of world sport’s most respected coaches. His achievements across rugby league and rugby union have cemented his reputation as one of Britain’s greatest sporting minds.

As Chief Guest, Edwards will play a central role in the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup Final experience, entertaining guests with stories from his remarkable career and reflecting on some of the most memorable moments in Wembley history.
