The RFL are proud to spotlight Inspiring Futures during Team Up week!

Kickstarted earlier this week; from January 26 to February 1, Team Up is a national week of action led by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) dedicated to rallying behind young men and boys, helping to ensure they have the support, connection, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges.

In support of the #TeamUp campaign, the RFL are proud to spotlight the ‘Inspiring Futures’ programme. This is a targeted intervention programme that uses Rugby League as a catalyst to engage young people aged 12-14 in crime prevention education. In 2025, the programme saw that 83% of participants were males aged 12-14 years old. Rugby League Foundations across the country deliver the project within their local authority area, promoting positive, aspirational messages to groups of young people through to targeted interventions for those identified as high risk of engaging in crime.

The programme explores the impact of mentoring young people through sports activities, focusing on improving their behaviour and overall well-being. Delivered by professional Rugby League coaches, the programme combines classroom learning with practical sports activities to foster growth and development.

The topics covered include – Goal setting, self-control & stress management, self-esteem, teamwork & trust, inspiration to change, a day in the life of a player, healthy lifestyles and addiction awareness.

We all need a team behind us that can provide support, connection and confidence to navigate challenges and help us to thrive.

Sport is more than just a game; it’s a lifeline for community and wellbeing. Sport brings people together, fosters genuine connections, and builds confidence.

The RFL are proud to offer safe spaces where young men can open up, develop skills and find positive role models.
