Round 1 of the Betfred Challenge Cup concludes this weekend, with seven of the postponed ties from last weekend having taken place today (Saturday 17 January).
Wigan St Judes claimed bragging rights over local rivals Leigh Miners Rangers with a 17-12 victory on home soil, as they progressed to the next stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, there was another close watch when Ince Rose Bridge booked their spot in the Second Round with an 18-12 win against Rochdale Mayfield.
Over in West Yorkshire, a classic played out between Stanningley and Dewsbury Moor, with the hosts eventually pipping a 24-22 victory.
Mirfield Spartans are through to the Second Round for the first time in the club’s history. They defeated Woodhouse Warriors away from home on Saturday (4-36).
West Hull also began their Challenge Cup journey in style with a confident 42-12 win over debutants King Cross Park.
Brighouse Rangers endured a tough outing in Round 1 when they welcomed Lock Lane to town. The visitors scored 42 points to the Rangers' six and have set themselves up for a glamour tie with Betfred Super League champions Hull KR in the Third Round.
Over in the Midlands, London Chargers then ensured their spot in Round 2 after comfortably beating Telford Raiders, 18-38.
Round 1 was completed on Sunday, as Waterhead Warriors booked their place in Round 2 after an away success at Siddal. The visitors intially fell behind in misty conditions, however, three tries in later in the first half put them into a commanding 16-6 lead at the break.
A score early into the second 40 saw Waterhead move a big step closer to a tie against Rochdale Hornets. Despite a bit of a fightback from Siddal, the Warriors progressed with the 22-14 victory.
