Andy Last to take charge of England in France

Andy Last to take charge of England in France

Assistant Coach Andy Last will take charge of the England Men’s side this weekend for their mid-season international against France in Toulouse.

Head Coach Shaun Wane has undergone an ankle operation, and the recovery time means he will be unable to travel to France with the team on Friday morning from Manchester.

Last has been England Assistant Coach since 2021 and was part of the coaching set-up throughout the Rugby League World Cup. The former Hull FC and Castleford Tigers boss is currently an Assistant Coach at Catalans Dragons.

The squad features a total of six new faces to the England set-up from across six different Betfred Super League clubs.

Castleford Tigers centre Sam Wood could be in line for his first England appearance whilst Wigan Warriors hooker Brad O’Neill is also in contention.

There are several new options in the forwards with Hull KR’s Elliot Minchella, St Helens’ George Delaney, Huddersfield Giants’ Oliver Wilson and Leeds Rhinos’ James McDonnell all vying for a place in the side.
