And there’s more! It's the semi-finals of the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup on Saturday

As well as this weekend’s semi-finals in both the Men’s and Women’s Challenge Cup competitions, the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup also reaches the semi-finals stage on Saturday.

The Allam Sports Centre in Hull hosts Leeds Rhinos versus Wigan Warriors, while London Roosters take on Catalans Dragons at the Medway Sports Centre in Gillingham.

And with Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons drawn apart, there could be a repeat of the 2023 final at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport on Saturday 1 June – but Wigan Warriors and London Roosters will surely have a say about that.

All four semi-finalists enjoyed big quarter-final wins, with Catalans Dragons showing their determination to hold on to their crown in winning 78-6 at Hull FC. The Dragons, featuring the likes of international Golden Boot winners Jeremy Bourson (2023) and Seb Bechara (2022), have already won handsomely on English soil this year, taking home the European Club Championship with an outstanding 68-28 win over Wigan in April.

Standing in the way of another final appearance for the Dragons are the free-scoring London Roosters, who racked up a century of points in a quarter-final demolition of Edinburgh Giants. If the Dragons perform at anything less than one hundred percent, the Roosters will be crowing come Sunday morning.

Having been devoured by the Dragons in that European Club Challenge, reigning Wheelchair Super League champions Wigan Warriors will be determined to have at least one more crack at a trophy in 2024. The Warriors proved too hot to handle for Halifax Panthers in the quarter-finals, winning 70-32 against one of Super League’s traditionally strongest sides.

But, just as in last season’s Grand Final, the Warriors will have to get past Leeds Rhinos, who earned their semi-final spot with an 86-12 win over Hereford Harriers.
