Pre-Season Friendlies Round-Up (7 January)

Results from this weekend’s action-packed pre-season friendlies are as follows, with all three home teams taking the wins:

Barrows Raiders 46-6 Rochdale Hornets

It was a dominant display from Barrow Raiders in frosty weather conditions, as they convincingly beat League One’s Rochdale Hornets on home soil. Leading 22-0 at half-time, Raiders fans would go on to enjoy an eight-try spectacle in total - with braces from both Andrew Bulman and Ryan Shaw - the former Super League star also showing consistency with his goal-kicking for the Barrow side, converting seven out of eight.

Widnes Vikings 42-0 Workington Town

Over in Widnes, the Vikings capitalised in their first pre-season fixture of 2024 and crushed Workington Town, 42-0 in an impressive performance. The new-looking Widnes outfit produced a seven-try display, including a brace from youngster Ollie Brookes, to show that they mean business heading into this year’s Betfred Championship campaign.

Featherstone Rovers 16-12 Bradford Bulls

The most competitive of this weekend's pre-season fixtures, this West Yorkshire derby did not disappoint as a close and thrilling encounter unveiled at the Millenium Stadium on Sunday.

Fresh-looking Featherstone were back to winning ways with 16-12 victory - a narrow defeat for Bradford in which John Davies made his first appearance for the Bulls since his move from local rivals Featherstone.

A close contest throughout, this pre-season fixture highlighted a taste of what’s ahead in the upcoming Betfred Championship with both teams aiming big in 2024.
