Tom Coyd names squad ahead of clash against France in Marseille

England Wheelchair head for Marseille this weekend aiming to bounce back from the defeat they suffered against France in Leeds earlier this month – and the match will be available to watch on the Our League mobile app.

Kick-off at the Palais des Sports is on Saturday at 2pm GMT.

England Head Coach Tom Coyd MBE has named an unchanged nine-player squad. Wayne Boardman, a survivor from England’s first Wheelchair international back in 2007 whose longevity and commitment is recognised by his heritage number 1, is hoping to earn a place in the matchday 8, having missed out in Leeds.

Tom Coyd said:

“We’re really looking forward to the game. The match against France at the first direct Arena earlier this month was a great occasion for Wheelchair Rugby League, but obviously not the result we wanted. Our focus since then has been to get out to Marseille for what will hopefully be another successful Wheelchair Rugby League event, and to produce a better performance.”

France have made two changes to their squad, Nicolas Lemaitre and Mostefa Abassi coming in for Julien Penella and Arno Vargas.

England: Tom Halliwell (Leeds Rhinos, captain), Sebastien Bechara (Catalans Dragons), Jack Brown (North Queensland Cowboys), Josh Butler (Leeds Rhinos), Wayne Boardman (Halifax Panthers) Nathan Collins (Leeds Rhinos), Joe Coyd (London Roosters), Rob Hawkins (Halifax Panthers), Lewis King (London Roosters)

FranceFlorian Guttadoro (S.O. Avignon XIII, captain), Mostefa Abassi (Saint-Jory Handi XIII Lions), Lionel Alazard (Montauban Handisport XIII), Jérémy Bourson (Dragons Handi Rugby XIII), Damien Dore (Dragons Handi Rugby XIII), Lemaitre (Montauban Handisport XIII), Yann Verdi (S.O. Avignon XIII), Adrien Zittel (S.O. Avignon XIII). Ninth player - Arno Vargas (Dragons Handi Rugby XIII)

The broadcast footage is being provided by French production and hosted through the Our League app so that all England fans are able to watch the game.
