Bethan Dainton will captain Wales Women when they face England at Headingley Stadium on Saturday 4th November.
Dainton, a dual-code international, plays her home Betfred Super League fixtures at the ground with Leeds Rhinos.
The 35-year-old featured this season in the Betfred Challenge Cup Final and Grand Final, however, was unable to lift silverware.
The forward spoke to the Welsh Rugby League about the decision.
“Pulling on the red jersey is pretty special, but to captain my country, be the one to lead out the team and sing our national anthem will be the pinnacle of my career and the greatest honour,” said Dainton.
“I am grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to the challenge but for me, nothing really changes. I like to drive standards on and off the pitch and pride myself on leading from the front whilst also enjoying the process and not taking myself too seriously. I truly believe in creating a positive environment to allow others to grow and express themselves.
The fixture at Headingley will kick-off at 12PM with England Men taking on Tonga in the Third Test at 2:30PM. Tickets are still available.
