Thirty young female Rugby League players from 11 clubs have been chosen to take part in England Rugby League’s Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) for 2023-2025.
DiSE is the first step on the England Performance Pathway, a national programme for Year 12 and 13 girls who have the potential to play at the highest level of the game – representing England Rugby League with the Knights or the Women’s senior team.
Recent notable graduates include Leeds Rhinos’ Keara Bennett and Eboni Partington of St Helens who have both featured significantly for both club and country since completing the pathway.
The Rugby Football League’s DiSE Manager, Conor Meese, says: “We’re delighted to have selected our DiSE cohort for the next two years. There are some really talented young players amongst the group who are definitely showing signs that they could progress through the ranks within the women’s game, and it is our job to help and aid that development.
“The programme is giving young players invaluable experience, as shown by our recent trip to Perpignan with the class of 21’, and I hope that we can continue to see our DiSE graduates reaching the very top of the women’s game as Keara and Eboni have.”
The England Rugby League DiSE is part of the female performance pathway and is taking expressions of interest for being a programme sponsor.
