Across the Pennines, Salford Red Devils survived a second-half comeback from neighbours Swinton Lions to run out 26-22 winners at the Salford Stadium. The Lions would score 22 unanswered second-half points, but Ryan Brierley’s score proved to be the decisive try.
Whitehaven fell to a 38-4 home defeat at the hands of Castleford Tigers. Bureta Faraimo and Jack Broadbent both grabbed braces, whilst stand-in skipper Alex Mellor claimed one try and two assists.
Batley Bulldogs continued their pre-season preparations with a hard-fought 20-12 away victory at Hunslet, Lucas Walshaw crossed twice for the visitors.
Finally, Barrow Raiders overcame a spirited Wigan Warriors Reserve side in their final pre-season friendly. The Raiders scored 22 second-half points to secure a 26-14 triumph.
