Warrington Wolves boosted their chances of Super League survival with a 32-18 home victory over relegation threatened Toulouse.

Warrington started strong with a chance coming inside three minutes, however Ben Currie was hauled down short of the line.

Warrington did get the breakthrough not long after. Warrington ran the ball on the last, Matty Ashton kicked the ball in-field and found Oliver Holmes for his second try of the season.

The Wolves extended their lead before the 20-minute mark. Matt Dufty’s pass beat the Toulouse defence and Connor Wrench strolled over in the corner.

Toulouse fought back after the half hour mark. Corey Norman crossed over from a scrum. Before Eloi Pelissier scored two tries in quick succession to put the visitors into a 18-12 lead.

George Williams was taken out on the hooter. Stefan Ratchford opted for goal as Warrington went into the break losing 18-14.

Joe Bretherton was sin binned for a pull back and Warrington capitalised on the player advantage. Wrench dived over in the corner for his second try of the evening. Ratchford fail to convert which left the score level at 18-18 with 55 minutes played.

Warrington regained the lead on the hour mark. Ratchford converted a penalty from in front of the sticks to lead 20-18.

Dufty turned provider again when his short ball found George Williams who went in underneath the posts. Ratchford converted to give the Wolves a 26-18 lead with 11 minutes remaining.

George Williams grubbered the ball before the Toulouse defence and Ben Currie touched down to confirm the Warrington victory. Peter Mata’utia converted the goal on the hooter to complete the 32-18 victory for Daryl Powell’s side.

Toulouse remain at the foot of the table with four games remaining. They will travel to Wigan next Friday in Round 24.
