Betfred Championship Round 12 Round-Up

Blake Ferguson scored four tries on his Betfred Championship debut as Leigh Centurions recorded an impressive 58-6 win over Workington Town on Saturday.

The former Australian international and NRL star took just three minutes to score his first and he had a hat-trick inside half an hour.

The centurions led 30-6 at half time thanks other tries from, Ed Chamberlain, Krisnan Inu - who kicked four goals - Kai O'Donnell and Nene Macdonald. Town replied through a Caine Barnes try, converted by Oscar Thomas.

O'Donnell and Inu both got their second tries in the second half with Ferguson's fourth and a late score for Joe Mellor adding extra gloss to the scoreline.

Elsewhere, Halifax Panthers ended York's impressive unbeaten run with a 40-24 triumph at the LNER Community Stadium.

They only led 22-18 at half time but exploded into life in the second half to collect a win which puts them fourth in the Betfred Championship table.

Lachlan Walmsley led the way with a hat-trick of tries for the Panthers. Daniel Murray chipped in with two tries, alongside a score each for Brandon Moore and James Woodburn-Hall. Joe Keyes kicked six goals for the visitors.

York's points came courtesy of Liam Harris (2), Jack Teanby and Matty Marsh, with Jamie Ellis kicking four goals.

Barrow Raiders claimed a dramatic 20-18 away win at Dewsbury Rams. The Raiders led 16-6 at half time end held off a second half fightback to record their seventh league win of the season so far.

Jarrad Stack scored twice for Barrow, alongside tries for Jarrod Sammut - who kicked two goals - and Luke Cresswell.

The Rams' points came from an Adam Ryder double and a try for Jordan Schofield, with Paul Sykes kicking three goals.

Finally on Sunday, Batley Bulldogs recovered from a 12-0 half time deficit at home to London Broncos to win 28-12 at the Fox's Biscuits Stadium.

London went ahead through tries by Lewis Bienek and Oli Leyland, Leyland and Neil Thorman converting.

Batley roared back with tries from Ben White, Tom Gilmore, James Brown, Luke Hooley and Martyn Reilly. Gilmore kicked four goals.

On Saturday, Featherstone Rovers kept up their relentless 2022 with a huge 78-0 home win over Whitehaven, while Bradford Bulls were 36-20 winners at home to Newcastle Thunder.
