St Helens CEO writes open letter to Sports Minister

The impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Rugby League and other sports has been profound.

Rugby League reacted quickly and decisively in the face of the challenge, securing a government loan for the sport while club took significant steps to reduce costs. But that loan was predicated on an initial 12-week lockdown – and with losses now of up to £2million a week across the sport as a whole, the game is suffering.

The Chief Executive of one club, St Helens’ Mike Rush, has written to Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston, outlining the challenges faced by his club. Many across the game will recognise these challenges and echo his concerns.
