The Rugby Football League are delighted to announce the new coaching and management team who will lead the England Students Women’s programme through to the 2021 Festival of World Cups.
Conor Meese and Ellis Pascal have been appointed as joint Head Coaches, with hands on support from James Stephenson, Team Manager for the programme.
The Rugby Football League’s Education Manager; Adam Hughes is enthused on the recent appointments: “I am really pleased with the off-field staff appointments for the return of the England Students Women’s team, all three members of the team have been heavily involved in Women’s Rugby League, Conor and Ellis have been coaching the University of Leeds Women’s team and James has been instrumental in the Women’s set up at Wakefield Trinity. I am looking forward to seeing the programme grow and excel under their leadership."
The forthcoming trials for the England Students Women train on squad will commence in early January 2020.
The team last played in 2016, but with England Students Women set to compete in 2021's Women's Festival of World Cups, along with the first competitive games of 2020 scheduled to be played in March & April against the GB Teachers & UK Armed Forces, as part of the President’s Cup. The game against the forces will also see the return of the Pankhurst Cup.
To qualify for the programme you must be an active student at either college or university. Registration is now open for qualifying players, with 2 open trials set to take place in the New Year. The first will be held in Yorkshire on Sunday January 12th and the second trial taking place in Lancashire the following Saturday, January 18th. Venues and times will be confirmed through registration.
