Halifax appoint Simon Grix

Halifax RLFC have appointed Simon Grix as Head Coach, following a successful stint as interim coach which has seen him oversee four consecutive victories.

Halifax Director Christian Lister said in a statement on the club website: “The board are today clarifying the Head Coach position by appointing Simon as Head Coach until the end of the season.

“We have also given Simon a full two-year contract from next season and will assist him in building the future of Halifax.

“He has our full support and we have every confidence in him – 4 wins in a row, every fans dream of descending upon Wembley in our midst and a squad that has misfired in early season after significant investment - looks solid and confident now– just shows what he’s capable of in a very short window of time.

“His vision, on field knowledge and tactical skill makes him the perfect answer and solution.”

Simon Grix’s first game in charge – on a permanent basis – will come on Sunday as Halifax travel to Batley looking to make it five consecutive victories.

Halifax come up against Bradford Bulls on Sunday 2nd June in the quarter-finals of the Coral Challenge Cup with one side becoming the first Championship side to feature in the semi-finals of the competition since 2006.
