Leigh Centurions halfback Martyn Ridyard is a big fan of the Summer Bash and Blackpool as the location for the Betfred Championships annual showpiece event.
“I like Blackpool. It’s a great venue and it’s not too far for most of the sides involved.
"It’s a great stadium and it gives us Championship teams a chance to get on the television on Sky Sports and show what we can do.
“The first time I played Featherstone Rovers and it was a really good game.
“Last year I didn’t play because I was injured, and I got to experience the crowd side of things and the atmosphere was brilliant.
“There were fans from all over and they were all getting on.”
Leigh Centurions currently sit 5th in the Betfred Championship level on points with Sheffield Eagles and Bradford Bulls and are looking for a play-off spot after a difficult finish last season.
“After last year they brought John Duffy back who is a massive character for the club, and he has brought local lads back – which is what the club needed - and we’ve just built from that.
“I’m hoping we can put in a good performance this weekend at the Summer Bash against a tough Widnes Vikings side.”
