Report: Hull KR 16-4 Hull FC

Report: Hull KR 16-4 Hull FC

Lachlan Coote scored two tries inside five second-half minutes to help inspire Hull KR to a memorable 16-4 win over city rivals Hull FC at Craven Park on Good Friday.

In front of a sell out crowd, a tense first half played out live on Sky Sports with neither side registering a point in the first quarter.

It was Hull KR who would break the deadlock with 29 minutes played as Ryan Hall marched over for a 4-0 lead.

But Hull FC did strike back almost immediately through a Josh Reynolds try on 32 minutes, though Luke Gale missed the simple conversion attempt to leave it level at 4-4.

Jordan Abdull missed a late drop goal attempt as the seconds ticked down to half time and it stayed level at the interval.

And Rovers, roared on by the capacity crowd, moved through the gears in the second period for a first win over FC since 2019, ending a three-game derby losing streak in the process.

Coote was central to their efforts, he first collected a superb Sam Wood offload to stroll in on 49 minutes, converting his own try to make it 10-4.

He scored again just five minutes later, this time backing up after an evasive kick return from Ethan Ryan split the visiting defence open.

He once again goaled and the home side led 16-4 with the final quarter approaching.

Despite some endeavour from the black and whites, Rovers never looked likely to relinquish their lead as they saw the game out.
