Report: Hull KR 34-10 Castleford Tigers

Hull KR are the first side to book their place in the Betfred Challenge Cup semi-finals after an impressive 34-10 home win over Castleford Tigers on Friday night, a game shown live on Premier Sports.

Rovers enjoyed a fast start as Our League Player of the Match Elliot Minchella got on the end of a pinpoint Rowan Milnes kick to score after just three minutes, Lachlan Coote converting.

And that same pair combined again as Minchella grounded a Milnes kick after 21 minutes, Coote with the goal for a 12-0 lead.

But Castleford struck back quickly to that first-quarter setback as Greg Eden went in wide out after 26 minutes.

Eden scored again after 35 minutes, Gareth O'Brien converting to leave the visitors 12-10 down, which is how it stayed at half time.

That was as good as things got for the visitors however as Hull KR went through the gears and added four more tries without reply to run out convincing winners.

After a gripping first 14 minutes of the second period, Ryan Hall stormed in after a well-worked Rovers move which left Tony Smith's side 16-10 ahead with the final quarter approaching.

And they didn't let up thereafter, Rowan Milnes bagging a try which Coote converted for a 22-10 advantage.

Sam Wood then turned the screw on 71 minutes with a fine individual effort before Jordan Abdull ran 60 metres to round off a night to remember for the Robins.

Coote added the goals to his side's last two tries for a 34-10 final score.
