Betfred Super League Round Six Round-Up

Newly-promoted Toulouse Olympique won their first game of the 2022 Betfred Super League season with a stunning 22-20 victory against reigning champions St Helens.

Matty Russell scored inside the first minute to get the French side off to the perfect start but the visitors soon closed the gap through Tommy Makinson.

Josh Simm put St Helens ahead before Toulouse replied immediately through Dominique Peyroux, against his old club, to regain a four-point lead.

Kristian Woolf’s side went into the break with a narrow lead as Jack Welsby crossed after 32 minutes and Dan Norman went over early in the second half to seemingly give St Helens control.

But Chris Hankinson and Paul Marcon scored in the final 12 minutes to secure victory.

Wakefield Trinity battled to a 38-22 win over Warrington Wolves.

The sides went into half-time level at 18-18 with Matty Ashton, Toby King and Danny Walker going over for Warrington while Liam Hood, Jordan Crowther and and Corey Hall were Trinity’s scorers.

Matty Ashurst went over after the break to give the visitors a six-point advantage, but a stunning try from Josh Thewlis pulled Warrington back within two.

However, Wakefield finished stronger as Mason Lino jinked his way through to score and Morgan Escare followed suit.

Hull FC moved alongside opponents Huddersfield Giants and two points behind the top three with a 14-6 win on Sunday.

Tries from Mitieli Vulikijapani and Andre Savelio and six points from the boot of Ben McNamara were enough for victory, with Chris McQueen scoring Huddersfield’s try.

Three tries in the final 14 minutes saw Salford Red Devils come from behind to beat Leeds Rhinos 26-12 on Friday.

Mikolaj Oledzki opened the scoring for Leeds but Ken Sio quickly levelled. Winger Ash Handley restored the visitors' advantage but Marc Sneyd's penalty made it 10-8 at the interval.

Bodene Thompson was sent to the sin bin for Leeds before the break while Zane Tetevano received the same punishment on the 56-minute mark, and Chris Atkin, Elijah Taylor and Ryan Brierley went over in the final quarter to give Paul Rowley’s men their third win of the season.

Catalans Dragons extended their winning run to five games with an 18-10 win over Hull KR in Friday’s other game.

The boot of Sam Tomkins was the difference with the England full-back notching five goals in another impressive display.

Joe Chan and Fouad Yaha were the Dragons' try-scorers while Ryan Hall and Shaun Kenny-Dowall crossed for the Robins, with Jordan Abdull adding a  conversion.

Zak Hardaker scored a try and six goals as Wigan Warriors beat Castleford Tigers 32-22 on Thursday.

Liam Farrell crossed twice and Jai Field and Ethan Havard were Wigan’s other scorers, with Greg Eden, George Griffin, Jake Trueman and Jake Mamo touching down for the Tigers.
