The Royal Navy became the first team to book their place in Round Two of the 2022 Betfred Challenge Cup following a dominant 0-60 victory over Bridgend Blue Bulls on Friday evening.
Kiniviliame Dakuliga was the Navy’s danger man crossing twice and it was the winger who opened the scoring after just seven minutes. The Navy continued to control the first half running into a 0-38 lead at the break thanks to tries from Danny Johnson, Darren Bamford and James Parry alongside Dakuliga’s double.
The Armed Forces outfit took just five minutes to cross after the interval as Matt Gaskell scored on his Navy debut. Three more tries followed from the visitors as they sealed a 0-60 win in Wales.
The victory means the Royal Navy move into Round Two of the Betfred Challenge Cup and they will face the winner of tomorrow’s (Sat 15 Jan) live BBC Sport game between Orrell St James and the British Army.
You can watch Orrell face the British Army live on BBC Sport from 12:30pm before Rochdale Mayfield and Wigan St Patricks do battle in the Cup live on The Sportsman from 2:15pm.
Sunday’s live Betfred Challenge Cup offering comes from Our League as Bentley host Stanningley from 2pm.
