Betfred League 1 gets underway on Saturday with a mammoth clash between two promotion hopefuls in Barrow Raiders and Rochdale Hornets.
Barrow have set the pace in the opening weeks of the season winning all five of their League 1 outings so far. The Raiders have already managed to rack up a huge 211 points in their five fixtures, conceding just 62 points.
Alternatively, Rochdale have endured a mix start to life back in League 1 with two wins and three losses to their name but have suffered defeat in each of their last two outings on the road to Coventry Bears and Hunslet.
Workington are currently top of the chasing pack and returned to winning ways last time out with a 34-20 victory over Keighley Cougars, inspired by a Brad Holroyd double.
Chris Thorman’s Town side travel to Coventry on Sunday afternoon looking for consecutive wins while the Bears are looking for another strong home performance following their impressive 38-30 win over Rochdale a fortnight ago.
There are currently six teams with two victories apiece in Betfred League 1 with both London Skolars and Hunslet looking to add another win to their records when they meet on Saturday afternoon in the capital.
Skolars’ two-game winning run came to a halt last weekend at the hands of Doncaster while Hunslet ended their two-game losing streak with a 36-22 defeat of Rochdale.
Doncaster – who currently sit 3rd in Betfred League 1 – are on a run of four consecutive victories and will be looking to continue their form in North Wales against the Crusaders on Sunday afternoon, live on Our League. Similary, Anthony Murray’s men will be aiming to seal back-to-back wins for the first time in 2021.
Elsewhere, Keighley host West Wales Raiders with the visitors still in search of their first win of the season.
