Featherstone Rovers secure Grand Final spot

Rovers made it to the Women's Super League Grand Final in dramatic style...

Andrea Dobson proved to be the golden-point hero on Sunday as Featherstone Rovers booked their place in the inaugural Women's Super League Grand Final.

Their dramatic semi-final at Thatto Heath was 20-all as the full time whistle blew, before England captain Dobson stepped up.

Featherstone, who finished third in Super League this year, produced a superb performance; Kayleigh Bulman crossed for two tries.

Further tries were scored by Sarah Dunn and Sinead Peach, as Georgia Roche added two goals.

Thatto were trailing 6-16 at half time but battled their way back to level the scores in a stirring second-half effort.

Thatto's Tara Stanley, Rebecca Rotherham, Faye Gaskin and Chantelle Crowl all scored once each, with Stanley adding two goals.

With the game in extra time, it was Dobson who produced the match-winning play, a brilliant field goal to give Featherstone the win and a place in the final in Manchester next weekend.

Elsewhere, in the Women's Championship semi finals, Oulton Raidettes hosted Wigan St Patrick's and, in another nail biter, it was Oulton who sealed their place in the final, winning 12-10.

Oulton's Reagan Walker scored twice with Frankie Townend adding both goals. Wigan's Emily Bagley and Emma Dwyer both scored and Charlotte Foley kicked one goal.

In the other semi final, Stanningley hosted Leigh Miners Rangers and the home side impressed throughout to win 60-4.
